POSTSCRIPT

“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, …” 2 Cor. 6: 17

We thank all the brethren who participated in the just concluded National Christian Prayers for Repentance. We have confidence and trust that God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, according to His Word.

Going forward, after praying and repenting, what next? Should we continue to live the way we were doing and ended up incurring the judgment of God? “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” God forbid.

There has to be a change in our ATTITUDE as Christians towards God and His ways. In recent years, Nigerian Church has become permissive, indulgent and morally lax. All manners of evils and sins are tolerated in the Church. Christians no longer separate the sacred from the profane. This has to change.

Henceforth, we must become zealous for truth, righteousness, holiness, sanctification and judge ourselves by these standards. If we continue accommodating unrighteousness and evil under the guise of “love”, “forgiveness” and “unity”, we shall incur God’s wrath in greater measure. The conclusion would be our repentance is a ruse. God cannot be mocked.

As Christians, many of us concentrate on judging evil amongst unbelievers. This is NOT the scriptural standard. God commands us to judge evil IN the Church, amongst Christians. When we execute judgment on evil in the Church, God will judge the evil in the world. 1 Cor. 5: 9-13; Eph. 5: 11; 1 Tim. 5: 20; 2 Tim. 2: 19. If we fail to judge the evil inside the Church, then we shall incur the judgment of God. 1 Cor. 11: 31.

We are a holy nation; a royal priesthood. As Christians, we are called to sanctification and holiness. Let us maintain the purity of the Christian faith with our linen of righteousness spotless and without stain; instead of complaining that dirty linen of the Church is washed in public. This is an admission of an unrepentant sinful lifestyle. Christ did not give His Church any dirty linen.

Let Ministers of the Gospel return to the message of holiness, sanctification, repentance and soul winning; enough of these Laodicean messages of greed, vanity, and covetousness. Let us prepare people for the coming of the Lord. The Lord is coming.
