The Test

It was fun. He was having a wonderful time. Everyone commended his creativity and originality. The children were particularly excited when they saw him. In short, he was the star of the parade.

While other participants dressed like witches and ghosts, he chose to dress like the devil. His costume was a combination of red and black, the two horns on his head were prominently displayed; he added a long arrow ended tail to his costume and carried a pitchfork. His dark African complexion added to his originality and persuaded the Euro-Americans that this was exactly how the devil looked.

Suddenly it started to drizzle. Nothing too serious, but the light rainfall could damage his costume. Not wishing to risk a damage, the black man started looking for a place to hide from the rain until it subsided.

As it turned out, the only open doorway that he was able to locate in the immediate vicinity belonged to a church in session. The worshippers were having a virile praise and worship session. They were singing, clapping and proclaiming their victory over the devil when "the devil" walked in.

Since the pulpit faced the main entrance, the first person to see him was the pastor. The first person to disappear was the pastor. A lady sitting in the front row thought that the rapture had taken place, until she reminded herself that when the rapture does take place, people would fly upwards and not downwards behind the pulpit as the pastor did. She wondered what the man saw and out of curiosity turned to look back and she saw:

"Oh my God!", she screamed.

Without any hesitation, she applied a tactical defensive move in spiritual warfare — she jumped out of the window. Pandemonium broke out immediately and members of the church started jumping out of the window one by one. It was not strange that they all chose to use the window since "the devil" occupied the main entrance.

The Afro-American, not being a church goer, thought that it was all part of the programme that at regular intervals, the pastor would disappear behind the pulpit while the members would jump out through the window. Therefore, he saw nothing wrong with their tactical defensive moves nor considered himself as the cause of all the commotion. After all, he was coming from the streets and everyone, including children saw him.

Everyone fled. Almost everyone. One old lady did not get up from her seat. No, she was not bold. Her dress got caught in-between the pew. The more she struggled, the faster it got caught. Seeing she was in distress, he moved over to help her. As the old lady saw him coming towards her, she started pleading,
"Please Mr. Devil, don't kill me. I am not one of them"

What if he was the devil? What could he have done? It is written, Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

Christians have victory over the devil and his hosts of darkness, so there is nothing to fear. Unfortunately, many people are holding on to a form of godliness but they deny the power thereof. A lot of people claim to be Christians without manifesting the virtue and godliness of Christ. They end up discouraging other people from accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Are you one of those who rejected Christ because of the conduct of some "Christians"? Did you reject salvation because of what you saw a "Christian" do or neglect to do? Please reconsider. Do not allow the insincerity of someone else rob you of the precious gift of eternal life. There is nothing wrong with Jesus Christ. He is perfect and He alone has the gift of eternal life.

Do not reject Jesus Christ because of another person's misconduct. On the day of judgment, that excuse will not be accepted in heaven.
Surrender your life to Jesus Christ today.

We invite you right now to repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

We want to encourage you to pray this prayer right away:

Almighty God, You are the creator of heaven and earth. You are my creator. I come to You now asking You to forgive me all my sins and save my soul through Jesus Christ. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord. I believe that God raised Him from the dead and He is alive forever. I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and personal Saviour. Lord Jesus, come into my life, fill me with Your Spirit and enable me to live according to the will of God. Amen.

We encourage you to join us at the Christian fellowship below to learn more about the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus.
